Treat Restaurant is an oasis for Humboldt Park and Logan Square diners. Serving seasonal Nouvelle Indian cuisine, Treat welcomes guests to BYOB at this hip eatery in a casual yet elegant environment. The simplicity of the menu far surpasses the contemporary American fare by blending rich, bold and robust flavors of India with familiar Contemporary American fare. The interior is stylish and classy, yet not intimidating for a casual night out. Art work from local artists adorns the bold yellow dining room with minimalist modern décor, a perfect reflection of the menu bringing together the traditional cuisine and the contemporary American favorites. The urbane clientele salivates between Braised Short Ribs, Scallops with Yogurt Crème Sauce, the fragrant and delectable Dahl Makhani based upon the owner's mother's recipe, Chicken Tikka Masala with succulent chicken simmered in a yogurt tomato sauce, or the luscious Pan Seared Salmon served atop a deconstructed Saag Paneer and tear-drop tomatoes. The appetizers of home made Samosa have been perfected over the years and are served with freshly made chutneys, Roast Wild Mushroom appetizer wrapped in phyllo sits over an arugula salad and tastes as terrific as its artistic presentation. Desserts are house-made and also push the bar such as the traditionally uncommon Triple layer Curry Chocolate Ganache Cake, a favorite among guests and its strong contender the Passion Fruit Crème Brulee. Diners are delighted to experience the boldness and richness of flavors at Treat. No two dishes taste the same. All food is prepared using fresh ingredients and the care taken in preparing the food is reflected by the vibe from the servers.
Treat's is the maiden venture of Chicago restaurant veteran, Chef/Owner Tamiz Haiderali (former board member of Free Street). In his 20 years of restaurant work, Tamiz has performed all functions and learned all various techniques working at a wide variety of places from casual restaurants, Jewish delis to high end bistros. Tamiz continued his work in the restaurant industry, moonlighting, while putting his stint in Data Analysis in the Marketing Research field, for ten years, before deciding to forego the cushy Michigan Avenue office for the small Indian bistro. From the onset, Treat garnered great recognition and reviews from all local media and was featured on WTTW's Check, Please! in October 2009.
Treat also offers weekend brunches with Pakora Pancakes made with Chickpea Batter and served with Spinach and flavorful chutneys, Green Eggs and Ham, Savory Pancakes or sweet fare like Cornmeal Custard Cake and Masala French Toast alongside regular brunch omelets and pancakes with homemade Chai syrup. Treat is open every night for dinner at 5 pm and at 9 am on Saturday and Sunday brunches. Visa and MasterCard are accepted. Reservations are recommended and street parking is available.
